Don Younker

Mr. Younker, also known around UMA as “Mr. Don” grew up in northern California. He has always been hands on in Electronics starting at the age of 10 and Metalworking a young Teen. Mr. Don started perusing a career in welding and automotive technologies at Consumes River Collage.

Soon after he decided to join the U.S. Navy. Mr. Don was in the U.S Naval Sea Cadets as a Youth and always had a heart for joining the military.

Mr. Don entered the U.S. Navy and ended up working in aircraft avionics and also worked the flight deck of many different aircraft carriers. During his U.S. NAVY career, he spent time in a reconnaissance squadron that monitored electronic signals from various aircraft and surface radio sites.

Upon leaving the Navy Active duty after almost 11 years, He went to work for the Army as a civilian fixing Aircraft UHF Radios and IFF transponders. After the Army decided to close the base he was working at Mr. Don went to work for the Navy as a civilian doing network management and WAN/LAN design.  After working for the Military for 30 years he retired and then started a new Job working for Union Pacific Railroad maintaining Radio Communication and Microwave Sites.

After several years as a communications technician Mr. Don came to work for UMA maintaining the things that need repaired around the School. 

His Hobbies are Ham Radio, Electronics, Woodworking, and Electronic Cad and Graphic Design.
