AFJROTC Cadet Leadership Camp
This year we will be staying at Hill AFB (HAFB) in dorms/billeting.
The minimum personal expense for each cadet attending is $40. This money will cover student fees for the camp. We recommend that cadets bring extra money for snacks, and souvenirs during the week, but it is not mandatory. Food, housing, and transportation are covered. Cadets will be sleeping on cots, and will need to provide their own sleeping bag or bedding.
We will depart UMA, 5 June, at 0800 hours; cadets should arrive at school by 0730 hours. We will travel to Camp Williams where cadets will attend a Leadership Reaction Course. Following the course, we will travel to HAFB. We will return to UMA on Wednesday, 7 June, around 1330 hours.
This is a school-sponsored activity. The Administration is supportive of this and recognizes the value to the cadets. AFJROTC Instructors and Chaperones do all they can to evaluate and monitor all activities, and are primarily concerned for the safety of the cadets. However, you must recognize your responsibility for the welfare of your cadet and evaluate the program for yourself. Should any problems arise concerning your cadet, you will be contacted to retrieve him/her immediately.
By the nature of the activity, there is some inherent risk; however, all steps have been taken to ensure safety. Please communicate with your cadet the necessity of his/her awareness of their responsibility for their own fitness, conduct, and safety. This is a very physical week of activities, sports, and training. The Air Force requires cadets to be physically able to participate in all activities. If your cadet has major health issues that may preclude full participation we recommend they not attend. We suggest you check with your group health carrier or student accident policy to be certain any medical problems that arise would come under your policy provisions.
Cadets will need to wear ABUs with boots and appropriate T-shirt for departure to camp. A packing list is provided in the application package available at the school office. Cadets and parents/ guardians must complete, sign, and return all application forms prior to departure on 5 June 2017 (preferably sooner), or they will not be allowed on the bus.
This activity is open to all 9-12th grade cadets, current 8th grade cadets may apply. Sign-Up and application forms can be obtained in the school office.
Camp is limited to 75 cadets
Summer Credit Recovery
The last day to sign up for Credit Recovery will be on Friday, May 26th. Everyone will be notified by May 31st, whether or not they will have a spot. Credit Recovery will begin on June 5th, the cost is $25/month. If you have questions, please contact Mrs. Seward. firstname.lastname@example.org.
Certified Nursing Assistant and Medical Program
We are excited to announce that Mr Carroll will be adding this class for the Fall semester. We anticipate adding another class or two second semester, which will build into classes at the ATC, such as EMT, etc. Second semester classes would include Medical Terminology, etc. Cadets must be at least 16-years old, though a great opportunity to prepare for the medical field. Keep in mind that Major Workman has an incredible Nursing Scholarship worth about $100,000, based on the ASVAB, for interested cadets.
We have made a few changes to the class scheduler, so please get on your account, and verify that your schedule has not changed. Also, incoming 9th graders CAN NOT take World Civ. That is a 10th grade class. If you have questions, please email them to email@example.com.
