Steve Carroll believes that successful education reform will come through the charter movement, which was designed to allow for innovative ideas and positive change. He affirms that UMA has already fundamentally improved the lives of many cadets, and it will only get better as we adapt to the needs of our future.
Mr. Carroll graduated from Brigham Young University and taught English for 7 years in Utah public and charter schools. In that time, he has taught every grade from 6-12, and in addition to core classes, he has offered reading, creative writing, popular literature, film lit, mythology, yearbook, and Spanish courses.
He earned a Master of Education in Educational Leadership, also from BYU, and worked as an administrative intern at American Leadership Academy, helping research and implement standards-based grading, attendance reform, and a 4-day school week.
Mr. Carroll has been the Academic Director at UMA since October 2016, and he loves serving his Thunderbird family.
